This past January, we announced a detailed succession plan with several changes that saw many of our veteran leaders assume executive roles. The transition has been very smooth, and we are well-positioned for the future with a wonderfully prepared executive leadership team.
In 2022, the changes will continue as our CEO, Mina Breuker, plans to retire. At their September meeting, our Board of Directors unanimously chose Troy Vugteveen as her successor. Troy will take on the title of President & CEO on January 1, 2022, but Mina will stay on as President Emeritus until March to ensure a steady changeover.
“I am so grateful to have been part of this organization for as long as I have. I draw comfort from knowing that our organization, which I dearly love and cherish, is in good hands. I have been part of this family for 23 years and have had the wonderful opportunity to work at all our campuses and alongside the home and community-based services as well. It is a great place to work with wonderful people doing important work. I especially enjoyed my time with residents and families. When my retirement date arrives, I know that I will miss everyone and continue to hold everyone up in prayer,” shared Mina.
In further support of Troy, we will be restructuring our leadership team. Doug Himmelein, VP of Human Resources, will be promoted to Executive VP of Human Resources and Operations. In addition, Sarah Radler will be promoted to Director of Human Services. All of these changes align with our financial plan, and we continue to have administrative costs below local and national levels.
Troy brings extensive operational experience to the CEO role as he has led most of the recent campus expansions and remodeling initiatives. His intimate experience assisting residents and families and listening to their desires has allowed him to gain first-hand insights into what the Holland Home mission is all about.

Over the last 23 years, Mina has made an immeasurable impact on the entire CLS community. She will be greatly missed, but we are excited for her as she takes on this new chapter of life. We know that we have a solid leader in Troy, and are looking forward to seeing our organization continue to grow under his guidance.
