Caring for a loved one with dementia is a labor of love—but it’s also an emotional, physical, and mental challenge that few are truly prepared for. The toll can be heavy, and it’s easy to lose sight of your own well-being.
If this sounds familiar, please know: you are not alone. Support is here.
At Holland Home, we understand the complexities of this journey. That’s why we offer Dementia Respite Services—a way to provide caregivers with a much-needed break while ensuring their loved ones continue to receive expert, compassionate care.
The Growing Need for Dementia Support
Dementia is on the rise, and with it, the number of unpaid family caregivers is increasing dramatically. In fact, over 11 million Americans are currently providing unpaid care for loved ones living with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia. These caregivers dedicate, on average, more than 20 hours per week to their loved ones while balancing careers and other familial obligations.
Burnout is common, and the feelings of being overwhelmed and exhausted are often accompanied by guilt for asking for help or taking some time for yourself.
What Is Dementia Respite Care?
Respite care is a short-term, temporary service provided to people living with dementia, allowing their primary caregivers to rest, recharge, travel, or attend to other responsibilities. Respite care isn’t just about caring for your loved one; it’s about supporting you. Here at Holland Home, respite care is a part of our broader dementia care expertise. Our highly trained and compassionate staff provide person-centered support for individuals living with brain change while giving caregivers peace of mind during their time away.
