Mary McNeil Recognized with
Volunteer of the Year Award
Volunteer of the Year Award
LeadingAge Michigan, an organization representing mission-driven senior care organizations, honored Holland Home resident and volunteer, Mary McNeil, with the Volunteer of the Year Award at the 2025 Member Awards Gala.
Each award winner was nominated by their peers and selected by an esteemed group of committee members from among many nominations across the state. Over 250 people gathered to celebrate the elite group of 26 award winners and recognize their collective achievements.
The Volunteer of the Year Award recognizes individuals or groups of volunteers, auxiliaries, or organizations who are working within a member community and who have provided exemplary service to seniors.
Mary has selflessly given her time and talents to Holland Home and Faith Hospice, two organizations committed to meeting the physical, emotional, spiritual, and intellectual needs of aging adults. In Mary’s own words, “Volunteering with people living with dementia is a profound privilege, drawing me closer to the Lord as I witness His grace in every moment. In serving, I honor His love and glory, finding purpose in the simple act of being present, seeing the beauty and dignity in each soul He has created.”
Mary’s commitment to Holland Home’s mission started as an employee over 25 years ago and led to her becoming a resident at Holland Home, and now a volunteer. Simply put, Mary is always finding new ways to give back. Her boundless compassion and tireless efforts are a testament to her lifelong commitment to serving others. Mary’s journey is a powerful example of the difference that humility, understanding, and joy can make in the lives of older adults.
Congratulations to Mary McNeil on this much-deserved recognition! While we are blessed with many wonderful volunteers, Mary’s continuous acts of selflessness, compassion, and leadership have significantly enriched the lives of seniors within and beyond our organization. Her commitment to serve exemplifies our mission and supports us in upholding our promise to provide the highest quality of care to the seniors who have entrusted us to do so.
