Congratulations to Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services
Holland Home would like to congratulate Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services on their 100th anniversary today. Pine Rest was founded on June 17, 1910. Later that year the Cutlerville Farm was purchased as the site for the Christian Psychopathic Hospital, now known as Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services. Pine Rest is one of the five largest free-standing behavioral health providers in the United States.
Holland Home began its association with Pine Rest in 1992, and Pine Rest continues to provide mental health services for HomeCare of Holland Home.

GVSU professor highlights Holland Home for social networking efforts
Compared to most retirement communities, Holland Home is ahead of the curve when it comes to using the new social media. Holland Home was recently cited in an article on MLive as an excellent example of how to use Facebook, Twitter and a weblog to communicate with all age groups.
As part of broader research, Tim Penning, a PR professional and associate professor of communications at Grand Valley State University, wanted to find out how some of the top employers in West Michigan have adopted social media. [...] Holland Home, he said, has a very deliberate social media presence. It has a blog right on its Web site, where links to its RSS feed, Facebook page, Twitter account and YouTube channel are prominently displayed. Penning thinks that’s a smart way to have a presence.

Holland Home debuts new television commercial during 2010 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony
Holland Home debuted its newest television commercial during the 2010 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony in Vancouver, Canada. The theme for the newest spot is Masterpiece Living, a specific, successful aging initiative based on years of medical research. Holland Home is the only senior services company in the state of Michigan to offer Masterpiece Living.
Previous Holland Home commercials have been award winners from the National Mature Media Awards. “The Masterpiece Living initiative focuses on SIPS from the fountain of youth; the Social, Intellectual, Physical, and Spiritual sides of life,” said Christopher Nicely, vice president of marketing for Holland Home. “Scientists are finding when these four areas are nurtured, a person ages successfully, or in other words, lives better longer,” he added.

Everyone is a winner in Wii bowling tournament
According to Nintendo, they named their game console “Wii” because it sounds like “we” — emphasizing that the game is for everyone. Residents at Holland Home’s Fulton Manor would agree — they have taken to Wii bowling with great enthusiasm. On Friday, January 22, they took on the Grand Rapids Senior Neighbors in the second game of a Wii bowling tournament. Fulton Manor was ahead going into the game, but lost by 189 pins. “But we will give them a run for their money when the tie breaker comes along,” said Nancy Venema, life enrichment coordinator for Fulton Manor.
Fulton Manor hosted their competitors for lunch following the game. And it hasn’t only been about winning — it’s been more about making new friends and getting to know new people.
The bowling tournament was covered by FOX 17 News including interviews with several bowlers. Check out the video here:
