Raybrook Care Group Members Receive Letters from President Obama
Raybrook Manor’s Care Group was started by Krista Battenfield, recreational therapist for third floor skilled nursing at Raybrook. The group meets once a month to discuss their personal prayer requests but also to think about who might need a letter of encouragement or a note of thanks. In May they agreed that no matter what their political affiliation, President Obama has a very difficult job ahead of him and could use all their prayers. They decided to send him a letter of encouragement.
You can imagine their surprise and delight when each member of the Care Group received a letter in response from the president.
President Obama wrote:
“I want to thank you for your message and for holding me in your prayers. My family and I are honored that so many Americans have supported us in this special way.
Our country faces enormous challenges, but each day I am uplifted by the enduring spirit of the American people. I know that we will meet these challenges if our optimism and hope are met with the necessary will and hard work.
We understand that, “the strength to go on produces character. Character produces hope. And hope will never let us down” [Romans 5: 4-5]. In these times of trial and opportunity, I deeply appreciate your prayers for this country, my family, and myself. May God bless you.”
